A podcast about families.

Several years ago I wanted to produce my own narrative, reported, investigative podcast. Thence was born The Genealogy Detective. I soon discovered that creating a podcast like this, on top of a day job and being a new mother meant the pace at which I can make new episodes is closer to one a year than one a month.

That said: I’m immensely proud of both the research and writing that went into these five episodes, as well as the scoring and audio editing (which I had to teach myself). Below you’ll listen to how I tracked down the remaining relatives of a woman whose parents were some of the few Holocaust survivors in their family. I fact-checked every publication that lazily printed the claim that Moby is related to Herman Melville. I went on an amusing journey that highlights the unimportance of having a famous relative.
